Would You Live in Ancient Greece?


Ancient Greece was a fascinating place to live. Greece is a peninsula located in southern Europe. What is a peninsula? A peninsula is a piece of land that has water on three sides. The Aegean, Mediterranean, and Ionian Seas surround Greece. The geography of Ancient Greece greatly influenced the growth of this amazing civilization. Based on what we analyzed about the geography of Greece, would you want to live in Ancient Greece? Using details from the passage we read in class explain your reasoning for wanting or not wanting to live there.

  1. Yes, I would love to live in Ancient Greece because it is a peninsula or land surrounded by the sea. Living by the sea makes is easy to trade with other civilizations so it would be easy to get new ideas and materials to help the growth of Ancient Greece.

    Lukis: Orlando, I would not live there because the mountains are making it harder to travel and that the volcanoes may erupt. If the volcanoes erupted the land would be covered in melted rock.

    Amanda: I think it’s a wonderful idea to live near the sea because it can help me travel on the boat.

    Carl: No, I wouldn’t want to live in ancient Greece because it has an active volcano. People wouldn’t now if it will explode or not.

    Abdul: Yes, I would like to live in ancient Greece because I would like to explore new geographical features.

    Carl: But what if the volcano explodes when you got there?

    Abdul: I would move away as fast as I can and go somewhere else.

    Mark: No, I would not like to live in ancient Greece because there are several active volcanoes and earthquakes and it could be unpredictable and you can die.

    Sarah: No, I would not like to live in Greece because all of the mountains made it difficult for farming in Ancient Greece. As you can see, I would not like to live in Ancient Greece.


    Anthony: No, I would not like to live in Greece because there are not many roads in Ancient Greece and most people walked when they needed to go somewhere. Also, because they have volcanoes and it can destroy are homes.
